Weekend Road Trip

This past weekend marked the first time I had visited Shane's new home. It was a great way to spend the weekend. The crew and I ended up spending the night drinking and playing games. In the morning, Shane cooked up a wicked and satisfying breakfast but in the process, managed to smash my foot with his garbage container. Until now, it is still bruised and sore.

Also, just wanted to post another one of my recent works. This was done for a huge College Thanksgiving party called Buttaball 2005. From what I've been told, it seems to have gone very well. Working on these side jobs is becoming progressively harder as I have little time in the evenings after work, and the time I do have, I want to spend relaxing. I'm usually in front of my computer all evening anyway so why not?

Hello Again

Hello again. I haven't posted in quite a while and for good reason. I just haven't had the time, so I'll bring you up to date.

Last month on August 27th, my good friends James and Renee finally tied the knot. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed at first when I found out that James had not included me in his wedding party, so when James asked me to be a reader during the ceremony, I was honoured. Their wedding made it my third of the summer, and theirs was by far the best.

The hall was beautifully decorated, and as the Converse sneaker-wearing wedding party made their entrance, their NBA game-like introductions, complete with personalized music tracks, added a touch of urban flare that made the night an unforgettable one. During the course of the night, I had the opportunity to play another important wedding role; I caught the garter. The audience cheered me on as I used my teeth to work the garter over a stranger's heeled shoe, slowly up her ankle and finally to her knee. The rest of the night was spent drinking, dancing, and drinking. I think Renee said it best when she said "the open bar got raped."

It was definitely a night that will not be forgotten and I sincerely thank both James and Renee for letting me be a part of it.

GO INSIDE

Finally, after a few days of hard work, I've finally finished a Flash animated evite for the very popular Toronto hotspot, Inside Nightclub. I'm very proud of myself as it's possibly the best work I've done yet. I'm hoping it'll attract a lot of serious business my way. Take a look and let me know what you think and if you're in the area, make sure you check out the party!

Livin' La Vida Loca

Just a quick post this morning. Last night I watched "Four Brothers" and it was much better than expected. In addition to what the theatrical preview reveals about the movie, the film does a great job at making you laugh. Although at some points, the plot of the story seemed to have gotten lost, or at least a bit unclear, the onscreen chemistry between the brothers as well as the suspensful actions scenes, really drew me into the movie. If anyone is up for some good entertainment, "Four Brothers" is definitely worth checking out.

Worldwide Fridays

One more thing I forgot to post. I recently finished a ad for an upcoming event at Aura Lounge. Feel free to leave me any feedback, and if you're in the area, why not check out the party?

No Reason Thursday

It's late and I'm bored so I figure I'll just post something. Some distant relatives from Texas were passing through Toronto and spontaneously decided to spend the night at our home. So, rather than going out to Rocky Mountain High, I spent the night taking care of a seven and an eleven-year-old. They wanted to play Star Wars games on my computer, they wanted to browse through Star Wars related websites, and when they were done with that, they even wanted to talk Star Wars. I figured the best way to keep them occupied would be to let them watch my bootleg copy of Episode III since they had yet to see it. My plan worked and shortly after the movie was finished, their parents put them to bed. It was close to midnight and Francis hopped online. We were both bored so what better to do than to head on over to Markham Station for some wings and beer? We asked for a pitcher but for some odd reason, they don't serve pitchers anymore. We asked for two pints and they didn't have those either. We ended up ordering two "extra large" beers which were served in huge mugs and seemed to hold about two pints. It was a good time. Can' wait for tomorrow! James' stag should be a hell of a good time.

Fatty Belly

I've been quite busy lately juggling a few projects, looking for a job, partying it up, and gaining weight. That's right. This summer I had hoped to get back into shape the way I was last year but lately it seems I've been heading in the exact opposite direction. Around this time last year, the guys used to refer to me as "Superman" becuase of my clearly defined abs. This year, no so much. My new name is "Fatty Belly".

For the past three days though, I've had really good workouts. I just hope I can keep it up. It's not so much my lack of excercise than my eating habits that have caused my sudden increase in chubbiness. For that, I have only myself to blame, but my friends do contribute to that quite a bit. Take hoagie night for example, of which we've had two in just this past week. Don't know what a hoagie is? It's the mother of all sub sandwiches with tons of meat, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and to top it off, potato chips. I have to admit, we did go a bit overboard the first time. Words can not describe how big these hoagies were, and for that reason, I've decided to add some pics. Think you could finish one?

I'm All In

So I've finally given in to this poker craze that's been going around lately. I played my first game last night at James' house. Although there are still a few things that I find a bit complicated, I think I got the gist of it, so well in fact that I almost won my second game. Stupid Francis and his lucky river catch, twice! That made me think about what Shane was saying, that it's possible to do everything right, outplay your opponent, and still lose big from nothing more than sheer bad luck. That being the case, I don't understand how it's possible for someone to become not just a good, but a great poker player when it seems that a large portion of the game is based on luck. Maybe my views will change when I've become more familiar with the game in it's entirety. In any case, I think it's safe to say I've never had a better time losing my money and I look forward to playing again.

Also, definitely worth mentioning in today's post, Jay and Candice are now engaged! I've never seen Jay happier nor have I ever seen him polish off a pitcher of beer they way he did the other night. Good job Jay, both on the engagement, and the beer. That makes three crew members out of a possible eight now, who are officially engaged to be married. Who will be next? I'm "all in" with an Ace and Jack.
